In open loop
system, the exhaust gas is directly washed by sea water. Effluent water will be discharged into the sea.

In closed loop
system, the exhaust gas is washed by continuously circulated scrubbing water mixed with alkali. When the concentration of the washing water reaches a certain level,
water is added to the circulation water. Some of the wash water is discharged into water treatment unit and then
into the sea after treatment.

Hybrid
system can operate in either open loop mode or closed loop mode. It can be
automatically switched following the directions from the ship operators. Wash
water can be recycled or discharged into the sea after treatment.

The EGCS for OOCL Singapore project
took only 5 months from the signing of the formal contract to the design of the
documents and drawings, the submission of the ship class for review,
the processing and manufacturing of the equipment, the system installation in
the shipyard and the successful commissioning and certification. Currently the EGCS is working efficiently and stably.
